Traveling across the US on the trail of Jack Kerouac

Travel across the USA on the trail of Jack Kerouac with Google Maps. The writer chronicled his coast to coast sagas in his famous work “On The Road.” An interactive maps lets you discover individual stops on his many cross-country trips by bus, train, car and as a hitchhiker.
On The Road was published in 1957. Director Walter Salles adapted the work for the movie screen in 2012. Jack Kerouac’s largely autobiographical tale follows narrator Sal Paradise, the author’s alter ego, as he makes his way back and forth across the USA and into Mexico. During his many adventures, Kerouac’s friends and other writers such as Neal Cassady, Allen Ginsberg and William S. Burroughs make various appearances.
A custom map on Google Maps charts the course of Sal’s trips and enables you to visualize the distinctive journeys. Interactive elements mark the many stations of “On the Road” with quotes from the original version of the book so you can put them into context.
